An end to floors… oh thank god!

Over the last 2 weekends, Dad and I have toiled ceaselessly to fit the last of the massive 61 square meters of wooden flooring to the house – this time in the downstairs living room, dining room and study. We also ripped out all the old skirtingboards and fitted new ones (boxing off radiator pipes as we went) and smashed out the old, ugly fireplace. Hard, dirty work but it looks so much better in here now. Only the a new fireplace and fire to replace and then we can decorate the rooms ready for new furniture – I can see the end of the extension in sight ๐Ÿ™‚

Popover to my old gallery and take a looksee – and weep with me as I bid farewell to our old, comfy (if ugly) settee… goodbye old friend ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Gorgeous Sky

It’s been a while, but here is the latest set of Shutterbug Burro Snaps ๐Ÿ™‚

Pop over and witness the mischievous otters*, call the Flying Pet Doctors, coo at some lost ducks, sick up at the dead bird, and buy the whole planet for 30p. What a good little Burro I am ๐Ÿ™‚

Blue Blooded Bug!

Blue Blooded Bug

Fek me! What kind of foul creature has blue blood? I mean, really. Blue. Blood. WTF? as the kids would say. I hit it with my spade and cut it in half – I didn’t mean to but I didn’t see it. I saw the blue goo oozing from it, though! Fair made me shudder it did ๐Ÿ™‚

Been a weird few days for wee beatsies – aside from the alien there, I also found a little mouse in my compost (I nearly hit him with a spade by accident!) and some strange, but quite beautiful, brown grubs. One thing I’m hoping not see much more of is slugs following my application of Nemaslug – that’ll teach the little gits to eat my beans!

In other garden news, I’ve built a mini-greenhouse for my toms and lettuce (they are much happier now)ย  and moved the heaps of soil from the garden to a couple of dalek type composters. I’ve also replanted my beans, rocket and radishes, all of which the blasted slugs wolfed down ๐Ÿ™‚

Bugger! I’ve left my seeds outside and the light is going – got to dash!

Curious FrogsAs I’ve moved all my Shutterbug Burro snaps to my Flickr account, I think I’ll be updating them more frequently (I could explain why, but it’s boring so I won’t). Click on the curious little frogs and be transported to Purv Corner where flowers should beware crossing the road and bunnies can be menacing. Ribbit?

Weekends equal Flooring.

Thanks to Dad, we now have wooden floors in all three of the bedrooms. Thanks to the mistress of the house, we will have carpet in the hallway pretty soon, Thanks to me we have photos of all this activity. Oh yes. Pop over to the gallery and see the latest shots (numbers 34 to 38). Soon we shall move downstairs where I shall photograph them working some more – it’s a social study programme.

Dazzle Monkey and Pipe

I’ve been uploading tons of photos tonight and moving all my Shutterbug Burro Snaps from my Gallery to my new Flickr account. From someone who never wanted Flickr, I’ve become a real fan :).

In the midst of this uploading frenzy I’ve been looking through photo sets I’ve never uploaded at all and I found the ones I took on my mate Monkey’s stag do and found one of my two favourite shots ever of my mates Dazzle and Monkey. We had a cracking day shooting innocent plastic discs and riding quadbikes like lunatics. Ahhh, friends are what life is all about.

Another day, another floor…

The spare room wooden floor going down.Well, what a busy weekend your friendly neighbourhood Burro has had!

Saturday saw me and the mistress stalking the mean streets of Manchester in search of kitchen goodies such as a new set of pans, lots of knives and some lovely cutlery. That was a hell of a walk back to the car, I can tell you. Thankfully Saturday night was much more chilled as we spent it with friends (Hi Brian! Hi Mel! Mel, I’m not a serial killer, honest :-D).

And that brings me to today. Today me and Dad laid the second bedroom floor and got the whole thing done in record time. Click on the wee picture to see the latest pictures or see the whole gallery here. Oh, and the mistress got some more of my bum, Burro bum fans ๐Ÿ˜‰

We should have that room decorated this week and will be laying the third floor next weekend. Why the rush? Well, I may tell you one day soon, but for now it’s my secret.

Brrrr… Chilly!

Icy Car - 4th Feb 07I know everyone says this January hasn’t been cold and they are right, but the cold snaps we have had have been more than a little chilly and no mistake what with icy cars to scrape and gorgeous sunrises to marvel at ๐Ÿ™‚ Ahhh… sometimes winter is almost the most beautiful of times. But then comes theย storms and the fog – the big stormย even managed to shut down Preston’s main street for a while because bits of the roof from the shopping centre and a nearby church decided toย fly around for a bit. – and it all goes pants. Roll on Spring.

Anyhoo – see the newest pictures of 2007’s weather here on my Flickr account.

El Snapo Numero Twelvio

H says I Love That Shutterbug Burro, I do.It’s been a while, but here is another release, nay escape, nay birth, from the House of Burro. If music be the food of love then Shutterbug Burro’s Snaps are a custard pie to the mush just as you settle down to it. Oh yes.

Open thyne eyes and drink deep of the joy that is H and his thumbs up for Preston. Have a good old knee trembler at the thought of battered food. Jump up and down on the spot like a loon because of the lady lovin’ lady pleaser. Gag as a little bit of your tea comes up at the sight of some blocked urinals.

Dine and enjoy.

Things I have found out lately.

Mobile phones and washing machines should be kept as far apart as possible.

Thank you.
